Practical support to strengthen research integrity and culture
I offer a range of services for organisations and individuals seeking to enhance research quality and standards, embed positive culture and ethical practice, and address research integrity challenges. My work is grounded in over 19 years of practical experience, policy knowledge, and a commitment to collaborative problem-solving.
I provide bespoke, expert and in-depth solutions to meet your particular needs, including helping you meet external standards for research integrity and research culture. I have extensive experience in enabling organisations to align with the requirements of funders, publishers or initiatives such as the Research Excellence Framework (REF), UK Concordat to Support Research Integrity (which I helped write), or EU or international research policies.

Increasing your in-house capacity
- Providing expert help when your research integrity and research culture workload gets too much. Whether you need short-term help because of staff absence or a complex case, or longer-term support to design and implement a particular initiative, I give both in-depth support and the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have 19 years’ of experience on your side.
- Ensuring effective organisational processes and compliance with funders’ requirements. I’ve designed and revised scores of institutional procedures, and know how to spot and correct the gaps, pitfalls and inadvertent negative incentives hiding in your policies and systems.
Speaking and thought leadership
- Presentations or keynote lectures, membership or chairing of panels, contributing to or leading working groups and initiatives, and much more. I’ve given in-person evidence to parliamentary enquiries, spoken at national and international conferences, led a highly-successful webinar programme for five years, made significant contributions to the creation and implementation of all three editions of the UK Concordat to Support Research Integrity, and my advice has been sought by UK Government departments and the science ministries of multiple countries.
Convening and community-building
- Creating or enhancing internal teams or regional or specialist networks, or building national/ international initiatives. I took a not-for-profit start up to a successful national charity supported by an active community of scores of research organisations, I’ve helped grow in-house, regional and national/ international research integrity and research culture groups, and I’m available to help you convene and build to support quality and trust in research.
